Post-Abortion Trauma is real.
According to U.S New & World Report, if current trends continue, 43% of American women will have at least one abortion in their life-time. Since the legalization of abortion in 1973, there have been well over fifty-seven million abortions performed in the United States alone. One-and-a-half- million abortions are performed each year, according to the statistics from the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia.
If you have had an abortion and are hurting, your feelings are normal. Post-Abortion Trauma is an adverse emotional reaction to abortion. It is often a delayed reaction and can surface at any time in a person's life...and when it does, it can be confusing, painful and overwhelming. Can you relate to any of the following?
- Frequent crying
- Increased promiscuity
- Intense desire to become pregnant again
- Suicidal urges
- Drug/Alcohol abuse
- Anorexia or other eating disorders
- Difficulty bonding with your other children
